A pedestrian and cycle footbridge over the Ślęza in Żerniki from 2007, built next to Żernicki Bridge as a bypass for pedestrians.
Żernicka Footbridge is a narrow crossing for pedestrians and cyclists over the Ślęza river, on the Żerniki estate. It stands right next to Żernicki Bridge, on its southern side, slightly upstream, and was built precisely because the neighbouring road bridge had no pavements.
Żernicki Bridge, on Żernicka street, serves car and bus traffic, but it is too narrow to also accommodate lanes for pedestrians. The footbridge was built in 2007 precisely to separate pedestrian and cycle traffic from the roadway. Today these are two separate structures over the same river: the bridge carries vehicles, the footbridge carries people and bicycles.
The footbridge is 53.7 m long and 4.46 m wide overall, of which 4.0 m is given over to the path for pedestrians and cyclists. It is a two-span structure, built as a slab of variable height, with cantilevers on both sides.
