Gather your loved ones at the cinema, because the 20th broadcast of André Rieu's summer concert from Maastricht is coming to you! Yes, really... In July 2026, the Maestro and his beloved Johann Strauss Orchestra will once again perform on the Vrijthof, the famous square of this charming medieval town. The Waltz King and his guests will play for the 20th time for the tens of thousands of music lovers who flock here every year from around the world. Fortunately, this magnificent summer evening will be broadcast to cinemas worldwide this autumn. You can look forward to a screening full of charming waltzes and marches by Johann Strauss father and son, plus songs from famous musicals such as “My Fair Lady” and “Les Misérables,” as well as other hits, including Ennio Morricone's “Gabriel's Oboe” from “The Mission.” Along with the Platinum Tenors and internationally renowned sopranos, stars who have never performed on the Vrijthof before will also appear. It will be a spectacular jubilee!
The new show “Long Live Maastricht!” is a joyful tribute to the Maestro's hometown, where it all began. Twenty years ago, André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra performed on the Vrijthof for the first time. The medieval square was transformed into a dazzling open-air ballroom. The audience experienced the first concert of its kind under a summer sky full of twinkling stars. The success was extraordinary, especially since the concert was broadcast to cinemas. Now “The Blue Danube” and “Radetzky March” will ring out for audiences around the world for the twentieth time.
“I am extremely excited about this jubilee. This July, I will play our summer concert in Maastricht for the 20th time,” says André Rieu. “I hope the unique atmosphere of the Vrijthof, the oldest square in the Netherlands, will once again touch the hearts and souls of all the listeners. It's fantastic that this concert can also be seen in cinemas around the world, including in Poland, and already this autumn. I am convinced it will delight you just as much as it does me and my orchestra.”
