“Viennese Blood” by Johann Strauss is staged as a full three-act operetta, uncut and not in a concert version. The cast includes soloists from international musical theatres and prize-winning vocalists, accompanied by the Arte Creatura Musical Theatre Orchestra conducted by Marek Kudra / Filip Huget. The production features choreography, sets and costumes, and the waltzes ring out from the orchestra pit.
“Viennese Blood” is one of Strauss's four best-known operettas, alongside “Die Fledermaus”, “The Gypsy Baron” and “A Night in Venice”. The libretto follows the romantic entanglements of characters who fall in love, part ways and return to each other. The central figure is Count Zedlau, a husband whose wife is away and who has earned a reputation as a seducer and Casanova. Two women vie for his attention: a dancer and his wife, who is coming home. The count also pursues another lady, who turns out to be someone's fiancée. Whose, the performance reveals only on stage.
