About this event
Arte Creatura Musical Theatre presents Johann Strauss's operetta “The Gypsy Baron,” which includes the aria “Great Fame Is Just a Joke.” The story is about love and the joy of life, where money, fame and honours often turn out to be a joke of fate. The production features Gypsy motifs, Hungarian rhythms and Viennese waltzes. The operetta premiered in Vienna on the composer's 60th birthday and has since enjoyed success on European musical stages. The theatre promises a full musical production, without cuts and without abridged concert versions. It is accompanied by classic costumes, choreography, set design and modern lighting. The stage will feature soloists from international theatres and prizewinners of vocal competitions. They will be accompanied by the Arte Creatura Musical Theatre Orchestra, conducted by Marek Kudra or Maciej Perzanowski. Plot: Sándor Barinkay returns after years of wandering to his ruined manor and tries to reclaim the family estate. The old Gypsy woman Czipra predicts love and money for him, but neither is within easy reach. Arsena rejects his advances and tells him to become a baron first, while her father, Żupan, wants to seize Barinkay's land so he can graze his pigs on it. Sándor then meets the Gypsy girl Saffi, through whom he finds true love and a legendary treasure. The Gypsies proclaim him their baron. War breaks out, and all the men of the village, including the Gypsies, leave for the front, while the women go to Vienna to wait safely for their fathers, husbands and sons. The war ends, everyone returns safe and sound, and the prince rewards them for their bravery. Barinkay receives the title of baron, the entire family estate and Saffi's hand, and Saffi, as is the way in operettas, turns out to be a lost princess. Cast: - Barinkay: Jarosław Wewióra - Saffi: Maria Hubluk / Wioletta Liber - Arsena: Kamila Gromadzka, Kornelia Wojnarowska - Ottokar: Chaoran Zuo / Grzegorz Biernacki - Homonay / Carnero -
