“Lachtara. Tęsknota” is a film about a Greek father and his son from Poland, who is half-Greek. Both are at a turning point in life. Years after the death of the former wife and mother, they meet in Athens to sell the family apartment in Wałbrzych.
What unites them is a shared loss, but they differ in temperament, language, and unspoken grievances. The tension is sometimes defused by unexpected humor, irony, and gruff male tenderness.
Circumstances force them to travel together in an old Polonez to Poland. The route follows the path of Greeks who fled the Greek Civil War in 1949. Traveling across Europe, in the shadow of modern migration, the characters try to make up for lost time and learn to be together again: sometimes awkwardly, sometimes funnily, and more often painfully.
For the son, it is a belated lesson in male courage and in the history of Greek emigration to Poland. For the father, it is a lesson in responsibility, humility, and closeness that he never before allowed himself.
Practical information: the screening will take place on 6 November 2026 at 8:15 PM at Kino Apollo in Wałbrzych.
