“Lachtara. Tęsknota”

“Lachtara. Tęsknota” is a film about a Greek father and his adult son, a Pole of Greek descent. After years apart, they meet in Athens. After the death of the son's mother and the father's former wife, they must travel together to Wałbrzych to deal with the family apartment. The journey across Europe gives them a chance to confront the past and try to rebuild their lost bond.

The story draws on the fate of Greek refugees who fled the civil war and arrived in Poland in 1949. Many of them settled in Lower Silesia, where a Greek community still lives today. The film explores identity, memory, and ties to one's place of origin, and shows how the history of successive generations shapes family relationships.
