A meeting as part of the Filmowy Wałbrzych series is devoted to the story “Lachtara. Tęsknota”. Its protagonists are a Greek man and his son from Poland, half-Greek, both at a turning point in life. Years later they meet in Athens to sell the family flat in Wałbrzych after the death of the former wife and mother.
They are united by a shared loss but divided by temperaments, languages and unspoken grievances. These are often disarmed by unexpected humor, irony and gruff male tenderness.
Circumstances force them to travel together in an old Polonez to Poland, following the footsteps of Greeks who fled the civil war in 1949. On the road through Europe, in the shadow of contemporary migration, they try to make up for lost time and learn to be together again: sometimes awkwardly, sometimes funny, more often painfully. For the son, it is a belated lesson in male courage and in the history of Greek emigration to Poland. For the father, it is a lesson in responsibility, humility and closeness, which he had never before allowed himself.
