The Company Theatre invites you to a performance of “The Dumb Waiter” by Harold Pinter, directed by Wojciech Malajkat. The action takes place in a room in a strange hotel, where two gangsters are staying. The world outside is represented by a mysterious “dispatcher,” who, according to the announcement, is an all-seeing Big Brother, foreshadowed long ago by Orwell.
A pair of suspicious types is a motif familiar from film and literature. In Beckett they are Vladimir and Estragon; in Quentin Tarantino's work, for example, the heroes of “Pulp Fiction”: Travolta's dance, the psalms recited by Samuel L. Jackson, and the watch from Bruce Willis's father. According to the announcement, thanks to the characters Ben and Gus from “Samoobsługa,” Tarantino has finally reached the stage in Poland.
