“Through the Wall” | Advance Screening

Through the Wall is a film based on the story of the friendship between Wiesława Pajdak and Jerzy Śmiechowski. In November 1947, Wiesława Pajdak was arrested for her activity in the anti-communist underground and imprisoned at Rakowiecka prison. A few days later, Jerzy Śmiechowski was placed in the neighboring cell.

One night, they began talking to each other through the wall using Morse code. As hard as it is to believe, that is how they met.

At the Feature Film Festival, the film received, among other awards:

• the FPFF Grand Prize – Golden Lions,
• the Art House Cinema Association Award (the film was classified as art house),
• the Journalists’ Award,
• the “Don Kichot” Award of the Polish Federation of Film Discussion Clubs,
• the Award of Polish Film Festivals and Reviews Abroad.

The advance screening will take place on 11 November 2026 at 6:00 PM at Kino Apollo in Wałbrzych.
