The story unfolds during the sweltering summer of 1976. The main character is Tony (Dominic Sessa), an ambitious student who dreams of becoming a writer. To boost his income, he takes a job as a dishwasher at a seafood restaurant. The restaurant is run by a strict head chef, played by Antonio Banderas.
In an atmosphere that is intense, chaotic, at times brutal, and yet highly creative, Tony discovers a lifelong passion. That same passion will make him one of the most outstanding chefs of his generation.
