About Ayrton Senna Statue in Wałbrzych

A life-size bronze statue of Ayrton Senna sitting on an F1 tyre, unveiled in 2021 on the street named after him in Wałbrzych.

On Ayrton Senna Street in Wałbrzych, next to the Museum of Mining and Motor Sports, stands a life-size bronze statue. It depicts the famous Formula 1 driver sitting on a racing car tyre.

Where the idea for a monument in Wałbrzych came from

The initiator of commemorating the Brazilian world champion was Jerzy Mazur, who recalls seeing Ayrton Senna for the first time at the Hungaroring circuit in 1986. This memory became the starting point for creating the statue. The initial design was prepared by Stefan Romecki, and the sculpture was made by Dmitrij Buławka-Fankidejski, in cooperation with Jerzy Mazur. The street on which the statue stands was named after Ayrton Senna by a decision of the Wałbrzych City Council in 2015.
