A post-volcanic hill 368 m above sea level in the Kaczawa Foothills within the Chełmy Landscape Park, with traces of a former basalt quarry.
Bazaltowa Góra is a hill 368 metres above sea level in the Kaczawa Foothills, within the Chełmy Landscape Park, about six kilometres southwest of Jawor.
The hill has the shape of a small cone with steep slopes and a clearly marked summit. It is built of Miocene basanite, which forms a lava cover and fills part of the vent of a former shield volcano.
On the south-eastern slope there is a pit of a former quarry, where the characteristic columnar jointing of the basalt and an exposed former volcanic vent can be seen. A second, more overgrown quarry lies to the north-west of the summit.
The hill is covered with deciduous forest with oak, Swedish whitebeam, wild service tree, lime and sycamore maple. The forest floor is home to, among others, elder-flowered orchid, ghost orchid, mezereon and common hepatica, and at the foot of the hill the Cheddar pink grows.
