A library branch by the bulwar Ikara with an art gallery, foreign-language collections and weekly tech help for seniors.
Branch No. 23 of the Wrocław Municipal Public Library stands on bulwar Ikara in Gądów-Popowice Południowe, right by an arm of the Oder. It is a facility adapted for people with mobility disabilities, with a breastfeeding corner and an offer friendly to people on the autism spectrum.
The library lends fiction and popular science, audiobooks, films on DVD, music on CD and board games. Its collections also include books in foreign languages: English, French, German and Ukrainian, scholarly literature, and large-print editions for people with visual impairments. The branch also collects Wrocław poetry and regional Lower Silesian literature.
The Ikara Gallery operates at the branch, presenting works of visual art. The library organises monthly board game evenings, meetings with authors, exhibitions, library lessons for children and reading circles for teenagers and seniors, as well as family reading programmes. On Thursdays there is technical help on duty for seniors who want to get comfortable with a phone or computer.
The branch delivers books to the homes of people who cannot come in person, and the return box at the entrance operates around the clock. This makes it easy to return books outside opening hours.
