A Gothic-Baroque Franciscan monastery complex in Złotoryja, mentioned as early as 1258, with a surviving chancel and a 15th-century wayside shrine.
The Church of St Hedwig of Silesia and the Franciscan Monastery in Złotoryja is a monastery complex belonging to the Province of St Hedwig of the Order of Friars Minor.
The monastery was already mentioned in 1258. It was destroyed by a fire in 1554 and rebuilt in 1555-1557. It was later restored several times, which blurred its original stylistic features.
The church was originally built in the Gothic style, then rebuilt in the Baroque style. Only the walls and buttresses of the chancel survive from the original building, covered by Baroque architecture from the mid-18th century. By the chancel stands a richly carved wayside shrine on a pillar from the late 15th century.
The church stands in Złotoryja, near the Gold Museum in Złotoryja.
Also nearby is the Aurelia Gold Mine.
The town also has a Jewish cemetery.
