A neo-Romanesque parish church from 1930 in Węgliniec, with a clock tower and organ, active to this day.
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Węgliniec is a parish Roman Catholic church on Kościuszki Street, belonging to the Węgliniec deanery of the Diocese of Legnica. It was built in the neo-Romanesque style, in brick, work finishing in 1930; it was blessed in 1931.
The single-nave interior is divided into three bays supported on two pillars. A tower with a bell chamber rises above the main entrance, housing an early-20th-century clock mechanism with four faces turned to the four points of the compass.
The church has a musical choir loft with an organ, and the furnishings are completed by three altars. The sacristy connects the church directly with the presbytery. The interior's semicircular vault is known for its good acoustics.
The church serves as a parish church and remains an active place of worship to this day.
A few hundred metres away stands the Church of Our Lady Queen of Poland. In the same part of Węgliniec it is also worth visiting the Museum of the Eastern Borderlands and the Podolian Room Museum, and a little further on lies the Torfowisko pod Węglińcem nature reserve.
