Czarnota is a peak 526 m above sea level, forming the northern end of the ridge of the Wałbrzych Mountains. It formerly bore the German name Schwarze Lehne.
The peak forms part of a ridge running from Borowa through Dłużyna and Lisi Kamień. To the south it is separated from Ptasia Kopa by a shallow saddle.
Within a few kilometres of the peak are Książ Castle, the Henryk Wieniawski Spa Park in Szczawno-Zdrój and the Stara Kopalnia Centre for Science and Art.
