Czartowiec is a hill 944 metres above sea level in the Golden Mountains (Góry Złote), a range belonging to the Eastern Sudetes. The summit lies on the border ridge separating Poland from the Czech Republic, in Kłodzko County, closest to the village of Nowy Gierałtów.
The ridge on which Czartowiec lies runs along the state border between Poland and the Czech Republic. The Golden Mountains are relatively low and forested here, and the summit itself has no viewpoint noted in the available sources - it is primarily an element of a long border ridge rather than a destination in its own right.
Before 1945 the hill was known under the German name Vordere Höllenkoppe.
Within a few kilometres of Czartowiec lie other peaks of the Golden Mountains, including Kowadło/Kovadlina and Czernik. Nearby is also the Śnieżna Białka Primeval Forest Nature Reserve, covering a stretch of forest in this part of the range.
