A historic Renaissance palace in Czernica (Jeżów Sudecki municipality), rebuilt in the 19th and 20th centuries, with a chapel featuring 16th-century paintings.
Czernica Palace, in German Schloss Langenau, is a historic palace in the village of Czernica in Jeżów Sudecki municipality, in Karkonosze County.
A castle belonging to the von Langenau knights, recorded as early as 1340, previously stood on this site. In 1543 Balthasar I Schaffgotsch rebuilt it into a three-wing Renaissance manor surrounded by a moat.
After damage in 1858 the building was rebuilt in the classicist style. In 1911 a massive, semicircular tower topped with a conical roof was added at the north-western corner. The building has two storeys and was built on a horseshoe plan.
Wall paintings from 1563 have survived in the palace chapel, depicting noble coats of arms on the walls.
After the death of Balthasar II in 1595, Czernica passed into the possession of the von Lest family. Until 1945 the palace remained in the hands of the von Klitzing family, and since 1992 it has been privately owned.
