A former Jewish cemetery in Bolesławiec from 1817-1965, whose surviving matzevot were moved to the municipal cemetery, with no traces remaining on the original site.
The Jewish cemetery in Bolesławiec lay at the junction of today's Podgórna and Jeleniogórska streets. The necropolis was established in 1817 and served the local Jewish community for more than a hundred years, until it was liquidated in the 1960s.
In 1870 a funeral house was built on the cemetery grounds. In the 1930s the necropolis was devastated, but it survived the Second World War. The end of the cemetery came only after the war: its liquidation began in 1963 and was completed in 1965. At the time of its closure it held 128 graves, spread over an area of about 820 square metres.
The surviving matzevot were moved in the early 1970s to the municipal cemetery in Bolesławiec. No gravestones or other elements of the necropolis remain on the former site of the Jewish cemetery today - the place is unmarked and is not a destination for visits; its history can only be learned from published studies.
