The remains of a small Prussian guardhouse from 1790 on Góra Ptak in the Table Mountains near Karłów.
Fort Karola is the remains of a small Prussian guardhouse on Góra Ptak (841 m above sea level) in the Table Mountains, near Karłów.
The fort was built in 1790 on the orders of King Frederick William II of Prussia as a small guardhouse on what was then the border between Prussia and Austria. It had a garrison of a few people and guarded the road to Radków, known today as the Road of a Hundred Bends.
Only remains of the structure survive. The sources do not say what technical condition they are in, or whether the site is marked as a tourist trail - this is worth checking before setting out, for example at a local tourist information point.
The fort lies close to other viewpoints and rock formations of the Table Mountains, including Szczeliniec Wielki, Błędne Skały and Narożnik.
