About Gilów Palace

A classicist palace in Gilów from the beginning of the 19th century, owned by the Nitschke family for a hundred years, today under private renovation.

Gilów Palace, in a village in the Niemcza municipality, in Dzierżoniów County, was built in the classicist style at the beginning of the 19th century, probably by extending an earlier seat, and was restored at the beginning of the 20th century.

Three owners over a hundred years

Originally the building served as the rural seat of the Tchirski family. In 1830 the estate belonged to the von Zeschwitz family, and from 1840, for around the next hundred years, to the family of Jules Ferdinand Nitschke. According to an address book from 1937, the owner of the estate at that time was Margarethe Nitschke.

Palace complex with a park

The site is part of a palace complex including a park and a fence with a gate in the park. The palace was entered in the heritage register on 13 August 1965 under number A/4143/1356, and the park on 18 September 1981 under number A/4144/840/WŁ.

From a farm to a private restoration

As late as 2007 the building housed a breeding farm. Today the palace is privately owned and undergoing renovation, and as a result remains closed to visitors until the work is finished.
