A historic brick water reservoir from 1890-1893 in the Na Grobli waterworks complex, today home to Hydropolis.
The Filter, known today as the water reservoir in the Na Grobli waterworks complex, is a brick building from 1890-1893, listed in the register of immovable historic monuments under number 99/A/02/1-21. It stands on Na Grobli Street 14/16 in Wrocław, within the former complex of Wrocław's municipal waterworks.
The Na Grobli Water Treatment Plant was established in 1871 and purified water drawn from the Oder using the slow sand filtration method, that is, basins filled with sand and gravel. The building in question, described in the heritage register documentation as a reservoir, served as storage for filtered water.
On 5 December 2015, Hydropolis, an interactive centre for knowledge about water run by MPWiK Wrocław, opened in the former underground water reservoir. The building is therefore open to visitors, though now under this new name and in a new role.
