A baroque Holy Trinity column from 1736 on the market square in Bystrzyca Kłodzka, the work of Anton Jörg.
The Holy Trinity Column is a baroque architectural and sculptural group standing on the market square in Bystrzyca Kłodzka, on Plac Wolności.
The column dates from 1736 and was created by Anton Jörg. It was built as a propaganda tool, meant to strengthen the Catholic faith and support the ideological struggle against Protestantism - such was the purpose behind many similar Trinity columns erected in that period in Silesia.
The monument is described as a baroque architectural and sculptural group, combining a column with a sculptural depiction of the Holy Trinity.
The column stands in the very centre of the town, on Plac Wolności, surrounded by other monuments of the old town. In its immediate vicinity is the Phillumeny Museum in Bystrzyca Kłodzka, and a few dozen metres further on the Pillory and the entrance to the Underground Tourist Route. Nearby also rises Góra Floriańska, from which a view over the town unfolds.
