About Hutnicza Kopa

A border peak 884 m above sea level in the Orlické Mountains, on the watershed between the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, near Zieleniec.

Hutnicza Kopa is a border peak at 884 metres above sea level, in the Polish part of the Orlické Mountains, in the Central Sudetes, near Zieleniec.

Watershed and the source of a river

The peak lies on the watershed between the catchments of the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. The Bystrzyca Dusznicka rises on its northern slope.

Geology and vegetation

The mountain is built of mica schists belonging to the Bystrzyca-Orlica metamorphic complex. It is covered with spruce forest, in places with an admixture of acidophilous beech forest. At the foot of the northern slope is a road junction known as Rozdroże pod Hutniczą Kopą, where the Duszniki Road meets the Orlica Road, part of provincial road no. 389.

Practical information

  • The peak lies in the Duszniki-Zdrój municipality, in Kłodzko County, near Zieleniec.
  • The sources do not give a marked trail to the summit itself, so the route is worth checking on an up-to-date map of the Orlické Mountains before setting out.
  • Nearby lies the Torfowisko pod Zieleńcem Nature Reserve, and further away the peak of Šerlich.
