A small reserve for inanimate nature near Świdnica, with a lake in a former limestone quarry.
The Jeziorko Daisy Nature Reserve is a small reserve for inanimate nature in the Świdnica municipality, in the Wałbrzych Foothills. Its main attraction is a flooded former quarry pit, known as Jeziorko Daisy.
Zielone Lake, commonly called Jeziorko Daisy, was formed in 1870, after a quarry pit that had been used to extract Devonian reef limestone was flooded. It is the main draw for visitors to the reserve.
The reserve was established in 1998 and is part of the Książ Landscape Park. It lies within a geological unit known as the Świebodzice depression, in Świdnica County. Its area is 7.11 hectares.
180 plant species have been recorded within the reserve, of which 172 are higher plants and 8 are mosses. The reserve's fauna has not yet been studied in detail; only the plankton of Zielone Lake has been examined, in which 16 crustacean species were found.
A few kilometres away stands Książ Castle along with the nearby Old Książ Castle, one of the largest castle complexes in Lower Silesia.
