A hill above Lubań, 283.5 m above sea level, built of basalt rock, a remnant of Tertiary volcanoes.
Kamienna Góra Park stretches over a hill rising above Lubań, at an altitude of 283.5 metres above sea level. The hill belongs to the Zalipie Hills and stands out in the area because it is built of volcanic rock rather than sedimentary rock, unlike most of the surrounding terrain.
Kamienna Góra is built of basalt rock, mainly nephelinite. The elevation is a remnant of volcanoes that were active here in the Tertiary period, tens of millions of years ago. The hard volcanic rock resisted erosion better than the surrounding formations, which is why it still rises above the surrounding terrain today.
In Lubań County, a few kilometres away, grows the Henryków Yew, another point on the region's natural heritage map. In Lubań itself, near the hill, there is also the Regional Museum in Lubań, where you can learn more about the town's history.
