A nearly 140-hectare forest reserve near Przemków protecting riparian forests and oak-hornbeam forests with numerous springs, open to visitors via a red trail.
The Łęgi Źródliskowe koło Przemkowa Nature Reserve is a nearly 140-hectare stretch of wetland forest right on the western edge of Przemków. It protects riparian forests and oak-hornbeam forests cut through by numerous streams and springs, and the area is open to visitors.
The reserve was established in 2002 to preserve riparian forests as well as oak-hornbeam and alder forests with a large number of springs, water seepages and a dense network of streams. It covers an area of 140.22 hectares of wetland deciduous forest. Cut through by numerous watercourses, the terrain here forms mainly riparian communities: ash-alder, ash and ash-elm, while higher-lying fragments also feature patches of Central European oak-hornbeam forest. Drainless depressions in the terrain are occupied by currant alder carr. The stands include oaks 200-300 years old.
About 300 plant species grow within the reserve, including several protected species: daisyleaf grape fern (Botrychium matricariifolium), honeysuckle (Lonicera periclymenum), mezereon (Daphne mezereum), oxlip (Primula elatior) and goat's beard (Aruncus dioicus), along with common yew (Taxus baccata). Within the reserve's boundaries there is also a cemetery of the ducal Schleswig-Holstein family, founded at the end of the 19th century.
The reserve lies within the Przemków Landscape Park, near another reserve, the Stawy Przemkowskie Nature Reserve. The area is open to visitors: a red trail from Przemków and an educational path run through it, which makes this a popular destination for walks. Nearby it is also worth visiting the Orthodox Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian in Przemków and the Buczyna Piotrowicka Nature Reserve.
