A villa from 1880 on Kamienna street in Lwówek Śląski, built in the Neo-Gothic style to resemble a defensive castle.
Lwówek Little Castle (Lwówek Little Castle) is a villa on Kamienna street in Lwówek Śląski, designed to resemble a medieval defensive castle. Construction was completed in 1880 at the initiative of the owner of a nearby sandstone quarry, which operated at the far end of what is now Kamienna street.
The building was raised in brick, in the Neo-Gothic style, with details drawing on defensive architecture. The roof gables are decorated with battlements, that is, the toothed masonry crenellations known from defensive walls and towers. The main element of the composition is a cylindrical tower crowned in the Gothic style, complemented by small corner turrets.
On the north facade there is a stone balcony offering a view over the town. On the east side the building has a large wooden balcony in the same Neo-Gothic style. The little castle has survived to this day almost unchanged, together with the accompanying outbuilding from the same period.
The building stands close to the historic centre of Lwówek Śląski, a few hundred metres from the Lwówek Śląski Market Square and the Lubań Gate Tower. It makes a good point on a walking route linking the town's heritage sites with a way out towards the Lwówek Switzerland.
