About Miłoń

A partly open peak of the Bystrzyckie Mountains with views of the Śnieżnik Massif and the Kłodzko Valley, with the remains of a combat bunker.

Miłoń, also called Dębosz, is a peak 772 metres above sea level in the southern part of the Bystrzyckie Mountains, in the Central Sudetes. It lies in the Bystrzyca Kłodzka municipality, in Kłodzko County, about 1.4 km south-west of the village of Poręba and 0.9 km south-east of the Przełęcz nad Porębą pass.

A viewpoint over the Kłodzko Valley

The partly open slopes and summit of Miłoń give views of the Śnieżnik Massif, the Orlické Mountains, the Bystrzyckie Mountains and other ranges surrounding the Kłodzko Valley.

Geology

The mountain is built of weathering-resistant granite gneisses and Upper Cretaceous sandstones. The summit and slopes are covered by a thin layer of younger sediments: clays, gravels, sands and loess.

Trails and traces of history

Two trails run across the slopes of Miłoń: a yellow one on the northern and eastern slope, and a blue one on the south-western slope, though neither is marked directly to the summit - it can be reached on a path from the nearby pass. The area preserves the remains of a Second World War combat bunker and small adits.

Nearby

Nearby is Jagodna, one of the higher peaks of the Bystrzyckie Mountains.

A little further south lies Szczerba Castle.
