A private museum in Szczawno-Zdrój with four rooms of model aircraft, a flight simulator and aviation trophies, previously housed at Książ Castle.
The Model Making and Miniature Aviation Museum in Szczawno-Zdrój is a private venue devoted to model aircraft and the history of aviation. The collection, previously on display in Wałbrzych, has been based in Szczawno-Zdrój since 2011.
Between 1998 and 2008 the museum operated in Wałbrzych, in the halls of Książ Castle. The collection was later moved to Szczawno-Zdrój, where the venue was given premises in the Biała Sala building on Kościuszki street. The exhibition reopened at the new location in 2011.
The exhibition consists of four rooms. In the first, visitors can see model aircraft, mainly from the Second World War period. The second is a working aircraft modelling workshop. The third houses an audiovisual room with a flight simulator, and the fourth holds aviation trophies and a library with a collection of more than 200 films on aviation themes.
Visiting the museum is possible by prior arrangement. Besides the exhibition itself, the venue also runs educational activities aimed at people interested in model making and aviation. It is a small, intimate place, unlike large museums of technology, since the whole exhibition fits within four rooms of a single building.
For ten years, from 1998 to 2008, the museum's collection was housed in the halls of Książ Castle in Wałbrzych, before moving to its current home in Szczawno-Zdrój. The exhibition on Kościuszki street, in the Biała Sala building, covers an area of about 100 square metres.
