A monument on Plac Sybiraków in Legnica commemorating Poles deported to Siberia, unveiled in 2015.
The Monument to the Deportees to Siberia in Legnica stands on Plac Sybiraków and commemorates Poles deported to Siberia. It is a different object from the similarly named monument in Wrocław, even though it bears the same name.
The monument consists of three vertical blocks, the tallest of which exceeds 4 metres in height. The whole is crowned with a bronze drapery weighing around 8 tonnes. The design was prepared by Grzegorz Niemyjski.
The monument was unveiled on 17 September 2015, on the 76th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Poland in 1939. The date of the unveiling refers directly to the events it commemorates.
