A flame-shaped monument on Wzgórze Słowiańskie in Wrocław, unveiled in May 1980 in honour of the city's postwar pioneers.
The Monument to the Liberation of Wrocław stands on Wzgórze Słowiańskie, in the Nadodrze district. It takes the form of flames, recalling the city destroyed and burning in 1945.
The monument was made of white cement to a design by Janina Szczypińska. The work was carried out by the Wrocław Building Stone Works and the Metalworkers' Guild. It was unveiled in May 1980.
The monument is dedicated to Wrocław's pioneers of the first postwar years, that is the settlers who rebuilt the city after 1945. The monument bears the inscription: "On the 35th anniversary of the liberation of the City of Wrocław, the Society of Friends of Wrocław and the community of the Śródmieście district - Wrocław 1980." A separate bronze inscription on the plinth reads: "To the pioneers of Wrocław."
