About Museum of Anatomy

A university collection of anatomical preparations and historical models at the Medical University of Wrocław, opened mainly during the Night of Museums and the Science Festival.

The Museum of Anatomy operates at the Department and Chair of Normal Anatomy of the Medical University of Wrocław, in the area of Grunwaldzki Square. It is a university collection, gathered since the 19th century, not a public institution with a regular visiting schedule.

What the collection includes

The display cases contain natural preparations of human tissue and historical anatomical models, including plaster and wax casts. The collection has been built up since the 19th century and serves primarily to train medical students, while also popularising anatomical knowledge among people outside the university.

Who can visit

Regular visiting mainly takes place during events open to residents, such as the Lower Silesian Science Festival or the Night of Museums. Outside these dates, entry is possible only with prior consent, in practice for organised groups, and the institution recommends attendance for those over 16 years of age. There are no fixed days or opening hours for casual visitors.
