Robert Borzęcki's private collection of minerals, rocks and fossils in the post-mining buildings on Obozowa street in Nowa Ruda.
The Museum of Minerals in Nowa Ruda is a private collection of rocks, minerals and fossils, assembled by Robert Borzęcki, a collector and former employee of the Museum of Technology and Industry in Warsaw. The institution now operates under the patronage of the Spirifer Geological Society.
The museum opened in May 2001, and its first home was Złoty Stok. In 2005 the collection moved to Nowa Ruda, to the buildings of a former coal mine on Obozowa street, where it operated until 2012. Later, between 2012 and 2014, the museum was housed in Kłodzko, on Czeska street. The exhibition has since returned to Nowa Ruda and again occupies the post-mining buildings on Obozowa street.
The collection numbers over 2,700 specimens, divided into several sections: minerals of the world, minerals of Poland, gemstones, meteorites, rocks, amber with inclusions, fossils and educational specimens. The exhibits include the first dinosaur bones ever found in Poland, discovered in Lipie Śląskie. Some of these finds are also shown at the Palaeontological Museum in Lisowice.
