A concrete obelisk from 1980 on a square at Reymonta and Kleczkowska streets, commemorating 314 victims of Nazism murdered in a nearby prison.
The Obelisk in Honour of the Murdered Patriots stands on a square at the junction of Reymonta and Kleczkowska streets in Wrocław. It commemorates the victims of Nazism murdered in a nearby prison.
The monument takes the form of a cracked, truncated obelisk made of concrete, with a painted red drop of blood and the inscription "In tribute to patriots of various nationalities, executed in the years 1939-1945". It was designed by sculptor Wiesław Chmiel as a diploma work under the supervision of Jerzy Boroń, and it was unveiled in 1980.
Behind the obelisk stand five flagpoles, and in front of it are six metal plaques on concrete bases bearing the names of 314 Poles and citizens of Germany and Czechoslovakia murdered in the aforementioned prison. The inscriptions have been translated into Czech and German.
