A 16.5-hectare park on the left bank of the Oder in Wrocław, with a playground, an outdoor gym and a magnificent pin oak.
Popowicki Park covers 16.5 hectares on the left bank of the Oder, within the Popowice estate in Wrocław. The site is looked after by the Wrocław Municipal Greenery Board, and it has carried its official name since a resolution of Wrocław City Council of 9 October 1993.
To the north the park borders a small area of allotment gardens and a railway siding leading to the former river port, beyond which flows the Oder. To the east it borders railway line no. 271, next to which lies Wrocław Popowice station, to the west the area of the former Popowice Port, and to the south the estate's residential buildings and Popowicka Street.
Before the war a building from 1907 stood in the park, designed by Karl Klimm, which housed a changing room and sports equipment store. Around 1910 it was converted into a gymnasium. During the great flood of 1997 the park was flooded by the waters of the Oder and badly damaged, and rebuilt in the following years.
A magnificent pin oak grows in the park. There is also a children's playground and an outdoor gym here.
A few kilometres from the park, in the very centre of Wrocław, lie the Market Square with the Town Hall and the Tumski Bridge. The National Forum of Music also operates in that area.
