About Sichów Palace

A ruined Renaissance-baroque palace of the von Richthofen family in Sichów, burned down in 1945.

Sichów Palace stands today in ruins - it burned down in 1945 and has been deteriorating ever since. The building, with its historic park, lies in the village of Sichów, in Jawor County, and is entered in the municipal register of heritage sites of the Męcinka municipality.

From a moated castle to baroque

Originally, a Renaissance moated castle stood on this site, surrounded by a moat and built in the second half of the 16th century. In the 18th century it was rebuilt into a baroque palace. The two-storey building was once covered with a hip roof, and the main entrance at the front led through a semicircular portal, above which a panel with the heraldic cartouche of the von Richthofen family - the palace's last owners - was placed.

A ruin after the fire

The palace burned down in 1945 and has remained a ruin ever since. The surviving fragment of the front elevation, with its portal and heraldic cartouche, makes it possible to reconstruct the former appearance of the entrance, but the interiors no longer exist and there is nothing to see inside.
