Sołtysowicki Bridge

Wrocław
About Sołtysowicki Bridge

A road bridge over the Widawa connecting Sołtysowice with Biskupice Widawskie, built in 2000 to replace a crossing destroyed in 1997.

Sołtysowicki Bridge carries Sołtysowicka and Starodębowa Streets over the Widawa river, connecting Sołtysowice on the left bank with Biskupice Widawskie on the right bank. The current crossing dates from 2000.

Rebuilt after the flood of the millennium

The new bridge was built on the site of a crossing destroyed during the flood of the millennium in 1997. The previous bridge was a wooden structure resting on steel load-bearing girders, so the flood left it no chance.

Six reinforced-concrete girders

The bridge's load-bearing structure rests on six girders in the form of freely supported beams, made using reinforced-concrete technology. The bridge is 54 metres long and 10 metres wide, of which 7 metres is the carriageway and the rest two pavements of 1.25 metres each. The surface is made of stone setts covered with concrete.

Nearby

A few kilometres towards the centre lies Szczytnicki Park.

Further along the Oder awaits the Botanical Garden of the University of Wrocław.
