Symbolic Grave of the Victims of Gross-Rosen Camp

Kamienna Góra
About Symbolic Grave of the Victims of Gross-Rosen Camp

A grave in the communal cemetery and a monument on Góra Parkowa in Kamienna Góra, commemorating the victims of a Gross-Rosen subcamp.

The Symbolic Grave of the Victims of Gross-Rosen Camp in Kamienna Góra commemorates the prisoners of the Arbeitslager Landeshut subcamp, a satellite of the German Gross-Rosen concentration camp.

History of the camp

Arbeitslager Landeshut operated from 16 July 1944 to 8 May 1945, that is, for 292 days. It was a men's camp, holding prisoners from many countries of Europe: Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, Russians, Germans, Belgians, French, Italians, Jews, Belarusians, Ukrainians and Albanians.

Memorial site

Today the memory of the camp's victims is preserved at two sites in Kamienna Góra: a grave in the communal cemetery and a monument on the slope of Góra Parkowa, dedicated to those murdered.

Practical information

  • Location: Kamienna Góra, the communal cemetery (grave) and the slope of Góra Parkowa (monument)
  • A site commemorating the victims of a German Gross-Rosen subcamp, requiring appropriate solemnity during a visit
  • It is worth establishing the exact location of both points beforehand, as they are in two different parts of the town
