Tomisław Open-Air Museum

The Tomisław Open-Air Museum is a small ethnographic museum set up in a private house at number 40, in a village in Bolesławiec County, about six kilometres from the castle in Kliczków. The collection shows everyday objects, household items and tools from around a hundred years ago, when the village was inhabited first by Germans, and after the war by settlers who arrived from Slavic territories.

What to see

The collection consists of original household equipment and farming implements, some of local origin and some brought by postwar resettlers. The objects document the everyday life of the village's inhabitants in the first half of the 20th century, before the population exchange that followed the Second World War.

Activities for children and young people

The facility runs educational activities aimed at various age groups, with particular emphasis on children and young people. These include demonstrations of old crafts, which gives the visit a workshop-like character rather than just viewing exhibits behind glass.

Getting there

The easiest way to reach Tomisław is through the village of Osieczów, and then along the road towards Kierżno. After about 700 metres you need to turn right, reach the footbridge over the river, and continue along the road leading towards the church. The route can also be covered on foot or by bicycle, which, given the short distance from Kliczków, makes it a good destination for a longer walk.
