About Uroczysko Obiszów Nature Reserve

A forest reserve in the Dalków Hills protecting, since 1972, a fragment of natural mixed forest.

Uroczysko Obiszów Nature Reserve lies in the Dalków Hills, in the Obiszów forest range, about 1.8 km west of that village, in the Grębocice municipality. It is a small fragment of forest protected since the 1970s for its natural character.

History of protection

The reserve was created by order no. 72 of the Minister of Forestry and the Timber Industry of 23 June 1972. Since then it has covered the same fragment of forest in the Dalków Hills, with no boundary changes recorded in available sources.

What is protected

Uroczysko Obiszów is a forest reserve covering 6.28 ha. It protects a fragment of mixed forest with the characteristics of a natural community, growing on fresh forest habitat. The reserve was created to preserve this tree stand for scientific, educational and landscape purposes. Geomorphological features formed in this area are also protected.

Nearby

Not far away, in Obiszów itself, is the rope park and pumptrack in Obiszów. In the same municipality, a few kilometres away, is a similar natural site, the Buczyna Jakubowska Nature Reserve, and in nearby Jakubów stands the Jakubów Palace.
