Wietrznik

Polanica-Zdrój
About Wietrznik

A summit in the Bystrzyckie Mountains at 765.7 m above sea level, south-west of Polanica-Zdrój, with a green trail running at its foot.

Wietrznik is an extensive summit in the Bystrzyckie Mountains, in the Central Sudetes, rising to 765.7 m above sea level to the south-west of Polanica-Zdrój. Its top is poorly defined, so it is difficult to point out the highest point from the ground.

Position between two neighbours

The summit lies between Smolna to the west and Kamienna Góra to the east, forming with them a chain of hills above the Polanica-Zdrój valley. Administratively the area belongs to the Szczytna municipality in Kłodzko County.

A green trail at the foot

A green trail runs along the south-eastern foot of Wietrznik. It connects Zieleniec with the Torfowisko pod Zieleńcem nature reserve, passes through Kamienna Góra and the Sokołowska Pass, then descends to Polanica-Zdrój and on towards Karłów. The summit of Wietrznik itself, however, lies off the marked route, so reaching the top requires leaving the main path.

Practical information

  • Location: Bystrzyckie Mountains range, Szczytna municipality, Kłodzko County, to the south-west of Polanica-Zdrój
  • Getting there: most conveniently from Polanica-Zdrój or Zieleniec, along the green trail running at the foot of the hill
  • What to expect: a gentle, forested and poorly defined summit with no marked approach to the top itself; nearby is the Spa Park in Polanica-Zdrój
