Branch No. 26 of the Wrocław Municipal Public Library in Biskupin, operating since 1950, with a collection for adults and the Library Thursdays series.
Branch No. 26 of the Wrocław Municipal Public Library has operated at Karola Olszewskiego 85a since 1950, making it one of the oldest branches in the city. The venue lies in the Biskupin district, in a quiet villa neighbourhood not far from the Oder.
The branch holds more than 14,000 volumes intended for adults: fiction, the humanities, biographies, the history of literature, and an extensive section devoted to the history of interwar Poland. Audiobooks and spoken-word books are also on offer. On site there is a computer catalogue and a reading room.
Every month the branch hosts Library Thursdays: author meetings, travel presentations and other cultural events aimed at adult readers. This is the main series that sets the branch apart from venues focused mainly on children.
Bicycle racks stand in front of the building, and for people with limited mobility the library delivers books to their homes. It is close from here to Szczytnicki Park and the Japanese Garden in Wrocław, so a visit to the library can be combined with a walk around this part of Biskupin.
