John Porter, a Polish-British musician who has lived and worked in Poland for 40 years, will perform on 27 November 2026 at 7:00 PM in the Main Hall of the MUZA Culture Centre in Lubin. He will play the concert “Helicopters ’45,” created to celebrate his jubilee as an artist and dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the album “Helicopters.” The programme was first presented as part of the Męskie Granie 2025 tour.
Porter’s career began with his collaboration with Kora and Marek Jackowski. In May 1979 he founded his own band, “Porter Band,” in Wrocław. That same year the group recorded its debut album, “Helicopters,” which received the Record of the Year award in the rock category in 1980. The album has English-language lyrics and New Wave energy, and musicians from Nurt and Spisek took part in the recording. Porter is Welsh.
For over four decades, the artist has been building his own musical world. The album “Helicopters’45” returns to a guitar-driven sound, striking melodies, and stories in which rock energy meets mature reflection.
Band lineup:
Practical information: the concert will last approx. 70 min. Seats in row XVIII of the Main Hall are less comfortable: the row is close to the one in front, and the seats have shorter backrests. If the event is cancelled, refunds are issued automatically.
