“NAZA” is a documentary directed by Abraham and Szor about people from within Israel's military system. At night, on rooftops in Tel Aviv, away from official statements and cameras, current and former members of Israeli military structures speak about the systems they helped build and operate.
The film is based on conversations with 24 Israeli intelligence officers and soldiers. Their testimonies reveal the decision-making mechanisms behind the mass killing of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, from procedures and technology to the way responsibility for human life is dispersed among people, data, and algorithms. The filmmakers ask not only about the consequences of war, but also about what makes it possible to wage it. They show the war not from the battlefield, but from the places where decisions are made. The film explores technology, responsibility, the limits of obedience, and the moment when violence becomes procedure.
The film had its world premiere in the main competition of the Venice International Film Festival, where it received the Special Jury Prize. International press praised its uncompromising nature and the power of testimonies from people speaking from within the system.
