The Pospieszalskis are an orchestra made up of two generations of musicians who share the same surname. In 1991, brothers Jan, Karol, Marcin and Mateusz recorded their first album of Christmas carols, and several members of the current lineup had not yet been born at that time. TVP broadcast a programme based on the album, and the carols became permanent fixtures on radio playlists.
Today the Pospieszalskis perform their own projects and compose for other artists. They write songs as well as larger works in jazz and classical music. Their credits include film scores, television shows and numerous concert projects.
The stage features a fifteen-piece ensemble. Many musicians play several instruments, so the orchestra's sound changes during the concert. Their arrangements blend jazz, classical music, Polish folk and big band. Solos, improvisations and unusual instrument combinations give familiar carols and pastorals a fresh sound without losing their original character. The concert is not a traditional carol service: moments of reflection and emotion sit alongside spontaneity and humour. Family ties and the atmosphere of playing together also play a major role, so this large concert feels like a home gathering around the instruments.
