An unused late-Baroque palace from the end of the 18th century in Chmielów, in Środa Śląska County.
Chmielów Palace stands in the northern part of the village, in Środa Śląska County, next to a medieval church. It is a late-Baroque building from the end of the 18th century, today unused and in a very poor state.
The palace was probably built at the end of the 18th century, and its builder may have been Rittmeister von Raoul, listed as the owner of the estate in 1795. Later the estate in Chmielów belonged in turn to the von Seidlitz and von Richthofen families, who held the property from the mid-19th century until the end of the Second World War.
The building was erected on a rectangular plan, as a seven-bay, two-storey structure covered with a mansard roof. The elevations are decorated with rusticated pilaster strips, typical of the late Baroque in Silesia.
The palace is currently unused, and a machinery depot operates in its vicinity. The building is described as being in a very poor technical state. There is no confirmed information about the owner or about the possibility of visiting the interior, so it is best to limit a visit to viewing the exterior.
Within a few kilometres of Chmielów lie other residences of the region, including Stoszyce Palace, Gałów Palace and Gozdawa Palace. There are also riding centres in the area, including Stajnia ARDENA and Konikowo, and nature lovers can visit the Bystrzyca Valley Landscape Park.
