A historic palace in Gałów, known as Schloss Gross Gohlau, rebuilt in the 19th century, in ruins since it was set on fire in 1998.
The Gałów Palace is a historic palace in the village of Gałów, in Środa Śląska County, in Miękinia municipality, also known by its German name Schloss Gross Gohlau.
Court documents from 1561 mention the palace, attributing its ownership to the von Seidlitz family. Around 1780 an engraving was made showing the building as it then stood. The palace in the form that could be seen until recently was built in the 19th century, and underwent a further rebuilding in the early 20th century. On the façade the coats of arms of the von Roeder and von Bonin families survive, commemorating a marriage between the two families.
The building combined various architectural styles, a mix referred to as eclecticism.
In 1998 a deliberate act of arson on the roof reduced the palace to a complete ruin, a state it remains in to this day. The palace is part of a larger complex, which also includes a park from the second half of the 19th century, two outbuildings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a fire station and a farm building from the first half of the 19th century.
Half a kilometre from the palace operates ARDENA Stable, a riding centre. Further away, towards Wrocław, lie Złotnicki Park and Park Leśnicki.
