A modern parish church in Głogów, built in the 1980s on the initiative of the mining community from the copper basin.
The Church of Our Lady, Queen of Poland in Głogów is a modern Catholic church on plac Kard. Wyszyńskiego, the parish church of the parish of the same name. The building was constructed on the initiative of Głogów's mining community from the copper basin.
The church was built between 1981 and 1987 to a design by Jerzy Gurawski, Marian Fikus and Jan Liszkowski. The parish was erected on 2 February 1988, on the feast of the Presentation of the Lord. The church itself was consecrated by Bishop Adam Dyczkowski on 8 October 2000, more than a decade after the liturgy had first been celebrated there.
The parish has around 15,000 members, making it one of the larger parishes in Głogów. The parish feast falls on 3 May, the feast day of Our Lady, Queen of Poland.
Głogów has several other churches worth seeing along the way, including St Maximilian Maria Kolbe's Church. It's a few kilometres from the city centre, where the Castle of the Dukes of Głogów and the town hall stand.
