A triangular neighbourhood square in Leśnica, with buildings from a 1920 garden estate and a monument to people resettled from Lwów.
Ciesielski Square lies in Wrocław's Leśnica district, in the area of the former Złotniki-Żerniki estate. Unlike the squares in the city centre, this is a small, triangular neighbourhood square surrounded by houses from the 1920s, rather than a market or representative square.
The buildings around the square were erected in 1920 to a design by architect Ernst May, following garden-city principles and using catalogue designs for cheap houses of the Dutch type. A dozen or so protected single- and two-family houses from that period survive to this day, covered by heritage protection together with the spatial layout of the square.
The square covers an area of 2,502 square metres and has a roughly triangular shape. A road 183 metres long runs through it, connecting Wielkopolska Street with Rajska Street.
A cross-shaped monument stands on the green area of the square, dedicated to people forcibly resettled from Lwów.
